This policy governs participation, permissions, attribution, corrections, disclosure and our use of AI in research and editorial work. It is stated publicly so participants can hold us to it.
The four statements below are the ones that matter most to a participant deciding whether to speak with us. They apply without exception.
Research participation does not require purchase of any product or service.
CEDP or affiliated organizations may separately provide technology, consulting or implementation services to clean-energy organizations.
Where a material commercial relationship exists with an organization featured in published research, CEDP will disclose it where appropriate.
Commercial relationships do not determine inclusion in research or published conclusions.
Permissions are established before an interview, not negotiated after it.
Before an interview we agree how the conversation may be used: on the record and attributed, attributed to a role or organization only, or used as background for aggregate analysis. Participants see quotations attributed to them prior to publication and may correct factual errors in them.
Quotations are attributed to the named individual and organization unless a different arrangement was agreed. Editing is limited to length and clarity; meaning is not altered. Background material informs analysis but is not quoted.
Anyone may request a correction. Substantive corrections are made on the published item with a dated note of what changed. Corrections address a factual error; they are not a route to revise a participant's opinion after publication or to remove unflattering but accurate material.
Quantitative claims name their source and its vintage. Where a figure is ours, it is labeled CEDP analysis; where it goes beyond what the evidence supports, it is labeled CEDP inference. Unsourceable figures are not published. The full classification is set out in the research methodology.
Relationships that could reasonably be seen to affect our judgment — commercial, financial, advisory or personal — are recorded internally and disclosed on the affected item. Where a conflict is material and cannot be managed through disclosure, we do not publish.
We do not publish sponsored articles, paid placements, vendor-written content or paid inclusion in any research list, profile or report. No organization can buy coverage, ranking or mention.
AI is a subject of this research, so our own use of it should be stated plainly rather than implied.
Processing and normalizing large public datasets, drafting and structuring internal research notes, transcription, and summarizing published source material for our own review.
Generating quotations, inventing or estimating figures, producing findings without human verification, or writing published analysis that a researcher has not reviewed and stands behind.
Interview recordings and transcripts are not used to train third-party models. Private participant responses are not published by default and are not shared outside the research team.
A human researcher is accountable for every published claim, regardless of what tools were used to reach it.
